AIRCRAFT ENGINE OVERHAUL

Our workshop has been certified for the overhaul of piston aircraft engines. We overhaul engines for private clients and our main client Walter Motor Service Co.Ltd.. The lizence is for experimental aircraft engine. Mainly we overhaul “Continental”, “Lycoming” and the excellent Czech “Walter” airplane engines, but can do any kind of piston engine. It was a long process but we managed with excellence and are one of the very few certified aircraft overhaul workshops in the Czech Republic. We are interested in international clients in need of piston airplane engine overhaul. If you need a certain rare type of engine overhauled, we can get it certified. In the exhibition of our airplane engine museum, which is run in cooperation with the Military Historic Institute in Prague, you can see airplane engines from first and second world war, till our days. Among the engines are many cut training engines. We use it as a knowledge base for our airplane engine overhauls. You can visit our Czech Museum page: http://www.muzeumjizerky.cz/

QUALITY CONTOL

Extensive Quality Control Equipment

Thanks to having the highest standard of equipment to measure metal hardness, the resistance of springs, to check the crankshafts and housings with defectoscopy, we make sure each part overhauled is in perfect shape and has no invisible cracks.

Many new spare parts are defective
Surprisingly you might be shocked to see how many spare parts we receive from original suppliers, from Europe and USA, which we had to send back after checking the hardness of the material or the workmanship. Most of those suppliers outsourced and the quality is not the same anymore. So even with new bought spare parts produced by whomever it is necessary to do an intense quality check. Most of the time after writing a technical quality report, we get new parts sent back to us with an apology from the providers.

Using defective spare parts can ruin a great job and even cause irreparable damage to the engine block and crankshaft.

WORKSHOP

Little by little we are purchasing highly specialized engine overhaul equipment from all over the Czech Republic, but especially from companies like Maybach, Praga, Tatra and CKD, producing already for the German Wehrmacht. At the moment we have got the largest specialized engine overhaul machine park in the Czech Republic. Each of our purchased machines we overhauled to a precision of 1/100 mm. It took us many years of dedication to get to this point.

We are able to produce virtually any spare part ourselves in the same way it has been produced originally, with the same finish and materials.

Of course we improve the overhauled engines to today’s gasoline 95 or 98 octane, by calculating and changing the camshaft and valve closing moment mechanically, which is something most overhaul companies are not able to do as they only change the ignition. Also we mount historic high performance sodium filled aircraft valves to avoid any kind of overheating.
With these changes our overhauled engines outperform by far modern engines in life time and durability.

ENGINE OVERHAUL

Armytech is specialized in overhaul of extremely rare old timer engines and gearboxes.

Ilja Sercl has been trained in engine building and overhaul by German Engineers who had been working during the Second World War for German engine productions. He is known as the leading engine specialist in the Czech Republic, building and inventing racing engines all his  life and overhauling all kinds of rare, vintage engines including; motorcycle, car, and also truck and tank engines. There is almost nothing our workshophas not seen yet and definitely nothing we cannot overhaul.

Ilja Serc passed all his knowledge to his son Pavel Sercl who is running the workshop together with his father and a team of highly qualified engine enthusiasts.
With our engine museum as open knowledge base, we are preserving the know-how for future generations.
Actually all of the money we earn is being reinvested to save more historic engines from the scrapyard and give them a new home in our collection.

ARMYTECH

Armytech provides the highest quality historic tank engine overhaul, repair and restoration. We are specialized in overhauling rare historic Wehrmacht tank engines and transmissions of German and Czech origin.  Armytech is one of the last companies in Europe providing such a service.  Most antique tank knowledge has been lost and few understand either the specifications and materials that were used.  We are only working with highest quality German materials.  As many German tanks and parts were produced in the Czech Republic after the German invasion (Protektorat Böhmen und Mähren), we have inherited the knowledge and have access to much of the original materials from that era.

Armytech has experience in the following kinds of overhauls:

•     Original Jagdpanzer 38 (Hetzer) (see overhaul picture gallery and video of theoverhauled running Praga gasoline engine)

•     German Maybach HL230 tank engine overhaul, see our current Wehrmacht Panther Maybach HL230 tank engine overhaul gallery. This overhaul we are executing for Axistrackservices. This engine is a 23 liter V12 with 700HP used mainly in Panther, Tiger II and Jagdtiger.

•     New Project starting now: German Maybach HL120. This engine is a 11,9 liter V12 with 320HP used mainly in Panzer III, Sturmgeschütz III and Panzer IV. Complete Overhaul of the cylinderheads, grinding of the camshafts and new rollers and bearings. Engine has been a static display till now.

•     Heavy ship engine overhaul (Steam and Diesel engines) like of the historic passenger ship “Nepumuk” in Prague

•     All kinds of passenger car, racing car,and truck engines. Also compressor and turbo.

•     Czech engines Praga and Tatra

•     All kinds of valuable old-timer car engines for the national museum in Prague and many international clients.

We love to restore historic engines piece by piece. We have the most precise tools and machinery in the Czech Republic. An engine overhaul of a large tank engine usually takes us 3 to 6 month, depending on the condition.  We can get your engine(s) running smother and better than new because we bring them up to todays usage needs.  For example we adapt the engines compression, valve closing moments and valve seats to modern gasoline standards to guarantee full functioning under all conditions. We provide a world-wide guaranty and service for our restored engines for up to 50.000 km or 5 years.

Armytech has an excellent international reputation from collectors worldwide. We have  restored the tanks and many classic cars at the national Prague war Museum.

We can diagnose issues quickly and get your tank engines and transmissions up and running fast. In case of minor damages we also fly to your location to repair your tank on the spot.
